LAWRENCEBURG, IN (July 5, 2025) – Owensboro, Kentucky’s Cole Falloway led all but 4 laps on his way to picking up his first Merrill Downey Memorial event win on July 5 in the Northern Allstars Modified Dirt Series Powered by Sunoco Race Fuels at the Lawrenceburg Speedway.
Falloway has been a contender in past Merrill Downey events but had never been able to put it all together. Falloway took the green flag from the pole position with Matt Hamilton flanking him to his outside. Hamilton was able to grab the lead quickly as the outside line was the preferred line around Lawrenceburg.
Falloway didn’t lose touch and was quickly able to get back around Hamilton and solidify himself as the race leader. Falloway was never really challenged the rest of the race. Falloway picked up a winner’s purse of $7,204 dollars. Hamilton incurred damage when trying to lap a slower car, breaking his left front. Hamilton held on to finish 10th with a broken left front. Lucas Lee, the 2017 winner, finished second followed by David Stremme, the 2019 and 2020 winner. Lawrenceburg 2024 track champion, Nick Snell finished 4th and Blake Brown finished 5th .

Heat race winners were Falloway, Hamilton, Snell, and Lee. Falloway won the fast car dash.
The modifieds return to the track on Sunday July 27th alongside the USAC Sprint Cars during Indiana Sprint Week.
